Q6. Can having a damaged windshield compromise my safety?

Your windshield is more than just a window. It actually provides structural strength to your vehicle’s body. In case of an accident, the windshield helps keep passengers inside and supports the inflation and performance of passenger side airbags. In the case of a roll-over, the windshield is a structural component that reinforces the vehicle’s roof and prevents it from collapsing.

If your windshield needs to be repaired or replaced, it’s a matter of safety and it’s best if you deal with it as soon as you can. Putting it off can turn minor problems into major ones, and it can turn an inconvenient situation into a dangerous one.

Sometimes people put off dealing with their windshields because it seems like such a hassle. Coming right to your location with world class glass, providing expert technicians for the installation or repair and knowledgeable representatives to handle every detail with the insurance company, Coast to Coast takes all the hassle out of the equation.

Q7. How long will it take to replace my windshield?

Coast to Coast can complete most windshield installations in one hour. There are some vehicles that require more time to complete.

You can safely dive away usually about an hour after installation. Your Coast to Coast representative will explain drive away times for your particular vehicle at the time of installation.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask your technician or our customer service department.

Q8. What types of adhesives do you use?

Coast to Coast uses some of the finest urethanes in the industry, including SRP 180 and OE Tech 1 and OE Tech 2.

By using some of the fastest curing urethanes in the industry, Coast to Coast’s customers can usually get safely back on the road about an hour after installation.

Coast to Coast is proud to have Pilkington NSG Group, one of the largest OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) companies in the industry, as our primary auto glass supplier. A recognized leader in global auto glass manufacturing and distribution, Pilkington is the OE auto glass supplier chosen by many auto manufacturers with proven product quality and consumer brand recognition.

Coast to Coast's purchasing agreement with Pilkington allows Coast to Coast to provide the highest quality OE or OEE to its customers. It's certainly possible to choose cheaper non-OE or non-OEE quality after market glass, but when the best is available, at no extra cost to you, why sacrifice your safety and peace of mind?

Coast to Coast is also opening brick and mortar locations in some markets, thereby offering customers the option to bring their vehicle into our glass shop.

Q11. Does Coast to Coast Auto Glass strictly replace windshields?

Coast to Coast Auto Glass can handle all your auto glass needs. In most cases, we can handle any piece of glass in your vehicle. We also can offer emergency service for your broken glass if your vehicle is damaged and no longer secure.

Q12. What is the difference between tempered and laminated glass?

Laminated glass is a type of safety glass that holds together when shattered. It’s what’s used in the manufacture of windshields. To create a laminated piece of glass, two pieces of plate glass are sandwiched around a layer of rubber-like laminate. When a small object hits a piece of laminated glass, usually only the outer layer breaks. That’s why it’s possible to repair chips on a windshield. Because of the way it’s constructed, the glass is much harder to penetrate either from outside or from inside. That means when a windshield is damaged it will usually stay in one piece.

Tempered glass is plate glass that’s specially heat treated then quickly cooled to increase its strength. So that if it breaks, it doesn’t form dangerous shards. Rather, it produces hundreds of little pieces without the long sharp edges you find with regular broken glass. Most non-windshield glass is tempered.
