When Repair is the Best Choice

You’ve got a broken or cracked windshield.  Does that mean the best thing you can do for your vehicle is replace the glass?  Not necessarily.  When the damage is minor, repairing the windshield is often a better choice than replacing it.

As an alternative to replacement, Coast to Coast offers a full service repair option.

Your Coast to Coast sales representative can help assess the most appropriate course of action.  He or she will inspect the damage with you and then explain exactly what’s entailed in either a replacement or repair.

When the repair option is chosen, the technician will inject a resin based bonding agent into the damaged area, which prevents further cracking, breaking or spreading.  The repair usually takes about 30 minutes.

There may be slight scarring where the repair was made, but the windshield will be as solid as it was before the crack or chip, and it will look just about as good as new. Most importantly, the safety of the windshield will be restored and the potential for further damage will be eliminated.

Most insurance companies cover the cost of the repair without requiring a deductible. Your Coast to Coast sales representative will be happy to explain all the details.

Although the windshield can often be repaired, there will be cases when only a full windshield replacement is acceptable. For instance, in cases where the damage affects the inner layers of the car glass, is in the driver’s line of sight, has impurities that cannot be removed or if it's simply your aesthetic choice, Coast to Coast will always honor the customer's choice. If the crack is over three inches long, if it has three or more legs or multiple intersecting edges, or if it touches more than one edge of the windshield, in all likelihood, a replacement would be recommended. When assessing whether a windshield should be repaired or replaced, safety must always be the first priority.

Repairing damage to your windshield is an efficient, environmentally friendly option that Coast to Coast always offers when appropriate. However, the bottom line is that we are committed to meeting customer expectations, and will always honor the customer’s choice: repair or replace.
